Meet the rich and surprising tradition of Swedish and Norwegian music! Sometimes ethereal, sometimes infectiously danceable, this tradition goes back hundreds of years. We’ll look at older forms of music such as the 3/4-time polska and långdans, as well as 19th-century forms like schottische, polka, and waltz. The workshop is focused on fiddlers, though other melody instruments are welcome, and you’ll get a chance to hear the multi-stringed Hardanger fiddle. You’ll come away with some delectable tunes and new ideas for how to make dancers and listeners happy.
